Lord, I saw something today, That made me cry. A thirst for sadness, a hunger for chaos, Highly strung and waxing poetic Like those golden boys with their golden guitars Smoking and singing, “Remember who you are.” It was my face. Fading into a lackluster light, No fanfare to ease the sight. I’ve seen it somewhere before When it was supposed to be doing something important. And today, I captured hope in my pocket, Though I know there’s a hole in the seams And this is all I really have left to lose And if this is it, maybe then, I’m through. Come on God, do I seem bulletproof? |
