Sitting in the conditioned air. Seperated from the stiffling heat. Upon my couch, through window gazing. Observing nature beyond the pane. Nectar bottle dangling inches from the glass, Ruby throats hovering. Drawing Life, drinking deep. A fondness had formed for the one, much smaller. Who sat long moments, tiny feet grasping perch. Instinct guided him to the opposite side, whenever he heard the approach of the larger, more aggressive. Over and over as the day progressed, avoiding confrontation. Then, in a careless iota of a second, less than the blink of an eye, he found himself in the clutches of the one he had feared the most. Lifted into the air and flipped, bottom side up, impaled through his anus by the beak of his attacker. Then released, dropped to the ground. All in less time than it takes to draw in breath and gasp at the scene, already past tense. Hurriedly, I ran out and around, in hopes of offering some form of aid. The moment in which my eyes fell upon the fallen one, was also the instant he appeared within the gaze of Gypsy, the cat. Devoured. Prior to my inhale. Past tense of my gasp. I have replayed this scene in my mind many times. Mind wants to cling to concepts. But beyond "preference" Released from "attachment" No error is seen. All occured as just "matter of fact" Each player acted in accord with his inner Nature. With the removal of concepts... no attachment, without preference... From only the SEEING of the Observer... There was no display of Cruelty. |

Oh, wow, Larry, what a tremendous write. "But beyond "preference" Released from "attachment" No error is seen." To get to that stage requires "growth" and there is pain in the growing stage. A most insightful write - thank you! Helen |
