SPOOLS

when the spools
were out of thread
I made toys
with no names.

she was sacrificing
herself to the sun,
then she quickly tied her halter
as if I'd never seen her breasts before,

when last night
I sewed my jeans
with the last of a thread
that once coiled around her waist.
