"And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder." -Matthew 21:44Stone of Tumbling Some will spurn the precious love of God unto the end blaming him for mortal wounds they never let him mend, hating him for reasons that were trumped up in the mind, saying “There’s no grace to see”, yet loving to be blind, charging him with basest crimes whose innocence untold will tower over every tongue and manifest like gold a purity and righteousness that stands beyond the gyre where flying arrows multiply by denigration’s fire, that he may be found just who speaks tried words which are his own and blameless when he executes true judgment from his throne. Why would any challenge total power such as this embracing a rebellion that’s betrothed to the abyss and must, like any bride, go forth and join her chosen groom? Why rise against the ever standing one to fall in doom? Much better one would fare to fall at present and not wait though he is broken in the plunge, at least it’s not too late. For healing waters flow from rocks and honey from their rifts. And God gives to the humble grace and honors them with gifts. But those who mock defiantly and keep their brazen look will find to their dismay, it’s true what’s written in the book. This rock, if not a refuge, if it’s function shifts for those who never learn to genuflect preferring to be foes, will surely turn and fall on them and grind them into dust. The selfsame stone is worthy of our deepest fear and trust. SDJ 3/2001 [This message has been edited by Stephanos (edited 03-26-2001).] |

Stephanos, Though we currently live in the dispensation of Grace, to have a Godly fear (not necessarily limited to reverence) but the fear that causes one to keep God's commandments as in the day when God gave them to Moses. Now, that was fear! In this day when people boast of having No Fear, to express such a human quality is very admirable on your behalf and I do thank you for your interpretation of a great day to come. A day when once again mankind will know what it is to truly fear God. Bob <>< |

Stephen; You have written a masterpiece! My only fear is to forget to stay encased in His Love every moment of every day, but then His glorious Grace would never let that happen, for I am surrendered to His Love entirely. Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Thanks for your replies everyone... ![]() I enjoyed doing this one. The scripture I quoted before the poem always intrigued me. I also wanted to use the imagery of a "stumbling stone", but decided I would use a play on words and alter it to "tumbling stone" to reflect the idea that we must take a tumble for him, or the rock will surely tumble down on us. Either way he is truely a "stone of tumbling" for everyone. Stephen. |

What a great piece this is! Actually, I have yet to come across any of yours, I didn't feel that way about. It's so very sad how some scoff at our Creator, yet worse, when they're claiming to be believers. Thank you for sharing this. Rae |
